WINTERIZATION & DISCONNECT GUIDE
Keep Your NyDock Safe Through the Winter Season
PROTECT YOUR NYDOCK WITH THESE WINTERIZATION STEPS
As lake levels shift and ice forms in the colder months, properly preparing your NyDock floating dock for winter is essential. With freeze in-ice technology, NyDock systems are built to withstand harsh winters, but following the steps below ensures long-term performance and peace of mind.
STEP 1: LIFT ANCHOR PORTS & LOOSEN ROPES
Raise the anchor ports and loosen the mooring ropes by 2 to 4 feet or more, depending on how much your lake’s water level typically changes.
Tip: It’s better to leave extra slack to accommodate rising water in the spring.
NyDock’s freeze in-ice technology allows your dock to remain in the lake over winter—this step ensures it moves naturally with changing water levels and ice conditions.
STEP 2: SECURE THE DOCK TO SHORE
Tie your NyDock securely to the shore using two strong lines.
Spring ice break-up can move heavy weights or anchors, so shore ties add critical stability.
STEP 3: DISCONNECT THE RAMP
Disconnect the ramp in two stages:
- First, disconnect from the dock side
- Then, disconnect from the shore side
You have two options:
- Place the ramp on shore
- Or secure it on top of the floating dock
Important: Tie down the ramp wherever it’s stored to prevent it from floating away during rising water levels or ice movement.
Since your NyDock is engineered to freeze in-ice safely, the ramp is the main component that needs removal or securing. The dock itself is ready for winter.
