NyDock partnered with Kawagama Lake Marina to replace their aging dock system with a new NyDock floating dock solution designed to improve accessibility, functionality, and convenience for their customers. Located on the shores of Kawagama Lake in Dorset, Ontario, Kawagama Lake Marina is a full-service marina serving seasonal cottagers and boating enthusiasts with boat slips, service, storage, fuel, and other waterfront essentials.
Kawagama Lake Marina Boat Launch & Slips
Project Goal
The goal of this project was to install a high-quality NyDock floating dock system at Kawagama Lake Marina, replacing their aging dock system while also revamping the boat launch to better suit the marina’s needs. The new installation was designed to improve overall functionality and efficiency while providing customers with a more convenient and enjoyable experience when arriving by water.
Our Process
Consultation and Planning: NyDock began by collaborating closely with Stewart McConkey, General Manager at Kawagama Lake Marina to assess the specific needs of the marina. We evaluated the available space, water conditions, and docking requirements.
Design and Customization: Based on the consultation, Kawagama Lake Marina selected NyDock as the ideal solution for the marina. The floating dock system was customized to fit the existing boat launch shoreline and replace the aging docking system. An 8 ft wide by 40 ft long dock provided a practical loading and unloading area alongside the boat launch, with a custom 12 ft angled ramp designed to accommodate Kawagama Lake’s seasonal water-level fluctuations.
The aging dock was replaced with a new slip system, ensuring the marina was ready for the busy season. Featuring 6 ft wide main walkways, 4 ft wide by 20 ft long fingers, and 12 ft access ramps at both ends, the system provides comfortable 10 ft wide slips for up to nine boats across its 100+ ft length.
Installation: The NyDock Team managed the installation from start to finish, securely anchoring the new docking system and creating a custom angled ramp to accommodate the repositioned boat launch. The layout was carefully designed to provide easy navigation for customers while ensuring the system could withstand the demands of a busy marina and accommodate high customer traffic.
Success Story
The installation of the NyDock floating dock system at Kawagama Lake Marina was a great success, providing the marina with a refreshed, reliable, and long-lasting waterfront solution. As part of the project, we replaced several aging docks with durable NyDock floating docks and completely repositioned and renewed the marina’s boat launch, creating a more accessible and functional experience for boaters. Built with rugged HDPE pontoons, the NyDock system provides excellent stability while accommodating changing water levels, and its freeze-in-ice technology allows the docks to remain in place through the winter months with minimal seasonal maintenance.
We are proud to have helped Kawagama Lake Marina modernize its waterfront and improve the experience for its customers. The combination of new floating docks, durable HDPE pontoons, and a completely refreshed boat launch has given the marina a cleaner, more functional waterfront while providing a low-maintenance solution designed for the demands of a busy commercial marina.
