Algonquin Park is one of Ontario’s most iconic natural destinations, known for its pristine lakes, canoe routes, and outdoor recreation. Recently, NyDock had the opportunity to complete a groundbreaking project on Found Lake with the installation of the first accessible floating dock in Algonquin Park. This project features a
NyDock Kayak Launch, making it easier and safer for paddlers of all abilities to access the water.
Project Goal
The goal of this project was to create a floating dock system that would:
- Provide safe, stable, and accessible water entry for visitors of all ages and abilities
- Enhance outdoor recreation opportunities in Algonquin Park while preserving the natural shoreline
- Integrate NyDock’s floating dock technology with an ADA-friendly kayak launch to make paddling more inclusive
Our Process
To bring this vision to life, the NyDock team:
- Collaborated with park officials to understand accessibility needs and environmental considerations
- Designed a custom floating dock system that remains stable with fluctuating water levels on Found Lake
- Incorporated our NyDock Kayak Launch, engineered to make entering and exiting kayaks safe and stress free
- Ensured quick and efficient installation with minimal impact to the surrounding environment

The completed project now stands as a milestone for accessibility in Algonquin Park. Visitors can confidently enjoy paddling on Found Lake thanks to the stability and ease of the
NyDock Kayak Launch. The dock not only enhances recreational opportunities but also sets a new standard for inclusivity in Ontario’s parks.
This project demonstrates how NyDock’s floating dock systems can be adapted for unique environments, from rugged lakes in Algonquin Park to residential waterfronts. With this installation, Algonquin Park has taken a meaningful step toward making nature accessible to everyone.
