When it comes to building in challenging environments, innovation and durability are key. That’s exactly what Canadian Waterfront Services delivered with their latest project—a one-of-a-kind floating ATV trail built through a remote marshland in Ontario. Partnering with NyDock, they created a long-lasting solution that not only meets the demands of heavy recreational use but also respects the sensitive ecosystem it traverses. By leveraging NyDock’s HDPE pontoons and robust construction, this trail sets a new standard for off-road accessibility in difficult terrain.

Project Goal
To design and install a durable, low-maintenance, and environmentally friendly floating ATV trail that could provide reliable year-round access through a remote marshy area in Ontario. The solution needed to handle heavy recreational use, withstand harsh weather conditions, and avoid disrupting the sensitive wetland ecosystem.
Our Process
Canadian Waterfront Services, a trusted dealer of NyDock floating dock systems, led the charge on this unique project. After assessing the environmental conditions and land access limitations, it was clear that a traditional land-based trail or bridge system was not feasible.
Instead, the team proposed a custom floating trail using NyDock’s HDPE pontoon system. Key features of the process included:
- Pontoon Selection: NyDock’s HDPE pontoons were chosen for their ability to float stably in shallow, soft-bottomed areas. With a lifetime pontoon warranty, these pontoons were ideal for long-term use with zero risk of corrosion or leaking.
- Trail Design & Assembly: Sections of the floating trail were prefabricated off-site, then transported and installed directly in the marsh. The modular design allowed for quick deployment and future expansion if needed.
- Environmental Considerations: Floating construction minimized disruption to the marshland and preserved the natural water flow, plant life, and wildlife habitats—unlike conventional trail development that could have caused irreversible damage.
- Durability & Performance: Each section of the floating trail was engineered to deliver excellent load-bearing capacity and slip resistance for ATV riders in all weather conditions.
Success Story
The completed project stands as a testament to the power of innovative design and durable materials. Thanks to Canadian Waterfront Services and NyDock advanced floating dock technology, the client now enjoys:
- A stable, low-maintenance floating trail that performs reliably in marsh conditions year-round.
- Zero environmental disruption, supporting eco-conscious land use while enhancing recreational access.
- Peace of mind with NyDock’s lifetime pontoon warranty, ensuring long-term performance with minimal upkeep.
This floating ATV trail is not only a functional success but also a model for sustainable development in sensitive environments.
